Living Like the Saints

 LIVING LIKE THE SAINTS

Our parish mission is to PRAY, LEARN, and SERVE - but how exactly can we put that into action? It begins with our domestic Church!

All St. Luke families are invited to join us in the Living Like the Saints program developed by the school Leadership Council Faith Committee! Each month, we are guided by a different Saint as we try to model the lives of heroic virtue they led.

The main element of the program will be joining in with the Be A Saint Kid's Club (BASKC) booklet from Catholic Sprouts. You can learn more about this program here. Each month, the BASKC presents a prayer and challenges that relate to the featured Saint - showing children exactly HOW to put their faith into action. Also included with the BASKC program are beautiful Saint cards displaying images of the Saints, Jesus, and Mary, as well as reminders of the monthly prayers and challenges.

Use the stickers included in the booklet to track your challenge progress and once your children have completed their challenges for the month, let us know here! That way, we can recognize them on our Communion of Future Saints display wall at St. Luke's and enter them in the monthly drawing to win Tiny Saints keychains!

In addition, all children who complete the challenges for all twelve months (Sep '23-Aug '24), will be awarded a special prize!

To help guide your family, see the Living Like the Saints display in the Narthex as well as the monthly updates in the parish and school newsletters. There will also be opportunity to complete challenges at various parish family events to foster community and make it easier for you!

Additional elements to the Living Like the Saints program, include:

  • Podcast - The Catholic Sprouts podcast is one of the easiest ways for parents to give their kids a daily dose of the Faith! Each episode is just 5-7 minutes, making it easy to listen to on the way to school or before bed each night. Even better, the podcast will directly tie into the Be A Saint Kid's Club content!

  • Virtues - A virtue exemplified by the Saint will be shared each month. St. Luke school students will be learning about this virtue in Guidance class, and families are invited to practice it as well!

  • Mission - Our monthly school Mission Day funds, as well as the Children's Collection at Mass one weekend each month, will go towards an organization that reflects the Saint's example/good deeds.

  • Announcements - Daily school announcements will share facts on the Saint of the month, and an overview of their life and legacy will be presented at school Mass once per month.

  • Challenge Help - Handouts will be provided monthly for help in completing one of the given challenges!
