Athletics

Athletics

Athletic activities here at St. Luke's are included in the Des Moines Area Catholic Athletic League which is based on Catholic values.

Mission

The mission of sports within the Des Moines Area Catholic Athletic League (DMACAL) is to provide members of our school & parish an opportunity to participate in athletics through leagues functioning in a family-oriented environment. Athletics here at St. Luke's further the mission of the Catholic Church by providing sports experiences for youth that are firmly rooted in the Catholic faith tradition, based on the goals of Catholic youth ministry, and aligned with the evangelizing mission of the Catholic Church. Our goals are to improve the health and wellness of our students, promote healthy lifestyles, and provide continuous learning of the sports we offer here.

Athletics Seasons, Programs and Details

Before each athletic season, registration will open to school and parish members through the St. Luke Thursday Newsletter.  Each sport will cost $50.00 to join, with volleyball and track & field having an additional jersey fee.  The $50.00 fee is used by the DMACAL to provide facilities and officiating crews for games/meets throughout the season. Many athletic programs rely on parent volunteers to help coach as most coaching positions are volunteers.  If you are interested in coaching, please make that known within the registration form.  All sports are eligible for students and parishioners in 5th – 8th grades.
