My name is Jodi Juskiewicz, also known as Coach J! I was born and raised in beautiful upstate New York with my hometown being Monroe, NY. Both my husband, TJ, and I have our families all throughout the East Coast (NY, NJ, CT, MA, VA, GA, FL) so as you can imagine most of our family vacations are spent seeing them which we absolutely treasure. Speaking of treasures...my husband & I have 2 amazing kids which are now somewhat "big" kids. Our daughter Cami is now in 8th grade while our son Chase is in 10th grade. Both are active in school, sports & activities so life is good and God is great to us! We have been active members of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church here in Ankeny since we moved here in 2003.
This is my 20th year teaching Physical Education and I couldn't be happier. I attended/graduated from both SUNY (State University of New York) at Delhi and SUNY Cortland. I am a licensed Physical Education teacher in grades K-8, have my Coaching Certification, as well as a Parks and Recreation degree. Prior to teaching PE, I was a college softball coach and it was there that I was first called Coach "J". I've had the pleasure of coaching and teaching kids at all levels; preschool through college. I love seeing kids enjoy being physically active as well as learning the value of teamwork and true sportsmanship. These are lifelong skills and it is my greatest hope that students carry these skills throughout their lifetime so that they live long, happy and healthy lives! We do many types of movement activities, sports and cooperative games in PE. We learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, good character, healthy eating habits, good hygiene, safety practices and we do so in a learning environment surrounded by the teachings of our Catholic faith.
There's nothing more rewarding than sharing both my faith as well as my passion for fitness with my students! I love our St. Luke's family here and am honored to be your child's PE teacher!!
My name is Judy Svendsen. I grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Dowling Catholic High School. I received my B.A. in Physical Education with an Emphasis in Coaching from the University of Northern Iowa. I have taught and substitute taught throughout the US. My husband retired from the USMC in 2009. I started working at St. Luke’s from the very beginning, including as the librarian. When I’m not at St. Luke’s, I’m subbing at Dowling. I also am an assistant coach for Dowling in Middle School Cross Country, Bowling, and Tennis.
Steve and I have 3 daughters. Our oldest is an RN at Mercy downtown. Our middle daughter attends the University of Central Missouri where she runs cross country and track. She’ll graduate in May then will be off to St. Francis Catholic University in PA in the fall. The youngest is in pre-vet school at Iowa State University. I spend my time attending meets in MO, KS, and NE, working, and coaching. I love helping kids learn how to eat right and live healthy lives by staying active.
