First Grade

First Grade

Miss Celia Hunter

Hello! My name is Celia Hunter and I am thrilled to be back teaching first grade again this year. I grew up in West Des Moines where I attended Sacred Heart and Dowling Catholic High School. I then went on to graduate from the University of Iowa with my degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Reading.

Teaching is a passion of mine. I strive to provide an engaging environment for my students to develop a strong love of learning. It's incredibly rewarding to see the growth academically, emotionally, and spiritually during first grade. I aim to accommodate and challenge each of my students in a faith-filled classroom.

In my free time I enjoy running, cooking, and walking my dog. I feel so blessed to come back for my third year and am looking forward to collaborating with each of you!

Miss Holly Bethel

Hello! My name is Holly Bethel and I am so excited to be teaching first grade at St. Luke’s Evangelist Catholic School this year. I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in reading and language arts. During my time at Iowa State, I was fortunate enough to student teach in Mrs.Reis' kindergarten classroom here at St. Luke's!

I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to teach first grade at St. Luke's this year. I attended Saint Francis of Assisi and Dowling Catholic High School before attending Iowa State. I am so excited to be back in the Diocese of Des Moines.

In my free time, I enjoy being outside, traveling, and being around my friends and family (especially my new nephew)! I love teaching and watching students grow both in their academics and in their faith. I look forward to meeting you all and a great year in first grade!
